ABOUT THE ROLE
This position is responsible for effective operation providing technical and user support for the development, implementation, operation and maintenance of the automated systems and related applications, networks and voice/data communications that support the Department; provides staff instruction and training on the use of this technology and participates in technology projects related to systems.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
• Collaborates/works with stakeholders and follows the corporate strategic leadership, planning and direction related to this function. (this statement is to be used for positions with governance functions.
• Provides system administration support for Department applications and provides technical support for the operation and maintenance of systems in accordance with relevant policies and procedures.
• Identifies and specifies integration opportunities and documents process changes/business impact of application upgrades and modifications.
• Coordinates and supports staffing relocation and space moves as it relates to relevant systems support.
• Identifies and documents issues and consults with key stakeholders to develop options and recommend appropriate solutions; implements selected solutions.
• Provides input on technology systems changes and business impact of application implementation and integration.
• Assists with the development of data standards, identifies issues and assists with/implements resolutions.
• Assists with the development of technical training materials and user documentation and provides technology related training.
• Develops, updates and maintains program policies and procedures, relevant documentation as it related to systems support.
• Informs management of changing technology environments and advises on its implications; regularly reviews technical literature regarding system methodologies, development productivity tools and techniques.
• Liaises with internal and external partners related to policies, legislation, guidelines, best practises, and funding opportunities.
• Ensures that services provided meet Regional customer service and quality assurance standards.
• Participates on committees, work groups, task forces and special projects, as assigned.
• Manages information in accordance with legislation and corporate standards.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
• Successful completion of a Community College Diploma in Computer Sciences or related field or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum two (2) years' experience with responsibilities for computer systems technical end-user support, database and network administration and computer configuration tasks.
• Experience in computer systems development processes using relevant databases and programming languages.
• Demonstrated knowledge of networking concepts, Client-Server application architecture, and relational database.
• Demonstrated knowledge of relevant PC configurations, components, communication and functions.
• Demonstrated understanding of the role of technology as an enabler to business practices.
• Demonstrated knowledge of relevant Standards, Acts and Regulations.
• Demonstrated ability in the Region’s core competencies.
• Demonstrated problem solving skills to develop creative solutions to complex technology problems.
• Ability to develop small database systems using relevant technology and systems tools.
• Ability to make presentations and communicate technical information to diverse groups.
• Ability to apply business and user requirements definition skills to front line project and system support.
• Ability to apply project implementation and problem resolving skills specific to front line project and system support.
• Advanced skills in MS Office Suite including the use of virtual platforms for conducting meetings and/or presentations.
